Everything I enjoyed in June.
A monthly wrap of what I read, ate, experienced and was inspired by last month.
I’m starting a new monthly series where I wrap up the past month of things I enjoyed. Nothing fancy and not consumption focus. More of what I’ve been doing with my time, what I’m eating and what’s inspired me. Let’s jump in!
What I Read (or Listened):
Last month I finished “Effortless” by Greg McKeown and woah! was it good. It completely shifted my perspective on how I approach my daily life. Here are a few quotes from the book that now live rent free in my head:
“When you focus on what you lack, you lose what you have. When you focus on what you have, you get what you lack.”
“Do not do more today than you can completely recover from today. Do not do more this week than you can completely recover from this week.”
What I Ate:
I found the most delicious, refreshing, yet savory pasta salad recipe and already planning to make another batch for easy weekend lunches. It’s called the Thousand Pea Salad and it’s vegan. I used to be vegan for many years and now fall into the category of vegetarian, but my non-vegetarian husband really love it too!
Most Worn Pieces:
I used the app Indyx to track my closet inventory and daily outfits. My most worn pieces were my favorite pair of wide leg jeans, 2 pairs of mary jane flats, a gold necklace and the cardigan I knit.
What I Made:
I made quit a few things this past month. I’ve been into sewing, knitting and jewelry making. I made the Saundra Skirt in a chambray fabric I had in my stash already. It’s a really easy make and I’m already working on another white linen version. I also finally finished sewing my Amy Top. It’s such an easy tank top that’s quickly becoming a staple in my closet. I made it in a navy linen.

I’ve been having fun making some jewelry this summer. I went to Michael’s to get some supplies. I’m a total novice at this so it’s a lot of trial and error. On a slightly sad note, I had to frog my entire top I’m knitting because I think my gauge was off with the tank top. I sized down on my needles and started again. So maybe I’ll have that finished next month. Knitting for me is about the slow process and something to do that doesn’t involve scrolling phone.

I also did a little organizing in my craft room and finally tackled the mess that was my embroidery supplies. I used some left over fabric in my stash to make the beginning of tote bag with cute little designs on it.

One Little Thing That Brought Me Joy:
The peonies in our yard bloomed at the beginning of the month. They’re my favorite flower and I filled my house with lots of little vases of them.

I’d love to know some favorites from your past month! Any good book or podcast recommendations? Little joys or glimmers? New recipe you loved? Share it with us all in the comments!
I love this monthly reflection! Such a great idea! I may have to do this! I can’t wait to check out that app! I finished reading “Practicing Presence: A Mother's Guide to Savoring Life through the Photos You're Already Taking” Highly recommend! I’ve been taking film photos and waiting for 2 rolls to be developed, I sewed the Coe Trousers from Daughter Judy Patterns and the Chanterelle shorts by sew liberated. I went on a 6 mom and 11 kid camping trip and it was so fun!!!
An app that tracks your clothing inventory and outfits? That is...genius! So excited to check it out. Thanks for sharing!
